2. Categories of Information Collected
2.1. Information Provided Directly by the User
In the course of registering for, accessing, or utilizing the Services, you may voluntarily provide the following categories of information:
- Account Registration Data: Including, without limitation, your full name, electronic mail address, and account credentials (password). Where you elect to authenticate through a third-party identity provider (e.g., Google OAuth), we may receive your name, email address, and profile photograph as transmitted by such provider pursuant to its own data-sharing policies.
- Price Tracking and Preference Data: Product selections you designate for price monitoring, target price thresholds you configure, notification delivery preferences, and any other settings or configurations you establish within the Services.

- Subscription and Billing Data: If you subscribe to a paid tier of the Services, our third-party payment processor may collect payment instrument details (e.g., credit card number, billing address). - Authentication Providers: Where you authenticate via Google or another third-party identity provider, we receive certain profile information as described in Section 2.1 above, subject to the permissions you grant during the authentication flow.
- Product and Pricing Data: We retrieve product titles, descriptions, pricing information, images, availability status, and other catalog data from Amazon and potentially other e-commerce platforms through their respective APIs or publicly available information, solely for the purpose of powering the deal listings, price tracking, and notification features of the Services.
3. Purposes of Processing
3.1. We process the information collected pursuant to Section 2 for the following purposes, each of which we consider to constitute a legitimate interest, contractual necessity, or for which we have obtained your consent, as applicable:
- Service Provision and Maintenance: To operate, deliver, maintain, and improve the core functionality of the Services, including product tracking, deal curation, price comparison, and account management.
- Notification Delivery: To transmit price drop alerts, deal notifications, and other service-related communications through your selected notification channels, which may include electronic mail, web browser push notifications, mobile application push notifications, and, upon obtaining your express consent, Short Message Service (SMS) or text message communications. Standard carrier messaging and data rates may apply to SMS notifications.
- Affiliate Link Generation and Attribution: To generate, insert, and track affiliate links that enable us to earn referral commissions from qualifying purchases made through the Services. See Section 6 (Affiliate Disclosure) for comprehensive details regarding our affiliate relationships.
- Account Administration: To process registration, authenticate your identity, manage subscriptions, and facilitate payment processing through our third-party payment providers.
- Analytics and Improvement: To analyze usage patterns, measure the effectiveness of features and content, conduct A/B testing, and otherwise improve the quality, relevance, and performance of the Services.
- Security and Fraud Prevention: To detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent activity, unauthorized access, abuse of the Services, and other activities that may violate our Terms of Service or applicable law.
- Legal Compliance: To comply with applicable laws, regulations, legal processes, or enforceable governmental requests, and to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

4. Disclosure and Sharing of Information
4.1. No Sale of Personal Information. We do not sell, rent, lease, or trade your personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes.
4.2. We may disclose or share information in the following circumstances:
- Service Providers and Processors: We engage third-party vendors, consultants, and service providers to perform functions on our behalf, including but not limited to web hosting, email delivery, analytics processing, payment processing, and customer support. Such service providers are granted access to personal information only to the extent necessary to perform their designated functions and are contractually obligated to maintain the confidentiality and security of such information.
- Affiliate and Retail Partners: When you click on an affiliate link within the Services and are redirected to Amazon.com or another retailer, that retailer may receive referral information indicating that you arrived from DealUpdates. We do not transmit your personal account information, email address, or other identifying data to affiliate partners as part of the referral process.
- Legal Obligations and Enforcement: We may disclose information where we reasonably believe such disclosure is necessary to (a) comply with applicable law, regulation, court order, subpoena, or legal process; (b) enforce our Terms of Service or other agreements; (c) protect the rights, property, or safety of the Operator, our Users, or the public; or (d) detect, prevent, or address fraud, security, or technical issues.
- Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, dissolution, sale of all or substantially all assets, or similar corporate transaction, your personal information may be transferred to the acquiring or surviving entity, subject to the commitments made in this Policy.
- With Your Consent: We may share your information for purposes not described in this Policy where we have obtained your express consent to do so.
5. Notification Channels and Communication Preferences
5.1. The Services may deliver notifications and alerts to you through one or more of the following channels, subject to your preferences and, where required, your express consent:
- Electronic Mail (Email): Price alert notifications, deal digest summaries, and service-related announcements transmitted to the email address associated with your account.
- Web Browser Push Notifications: Real-time notifications delivered through your web browser's native push notification system, utilizing the Web Push Protocol and VAPID authentication. Subscription to web push notifications requires your affirmative opt-in through the browser's permission dialog.
- Mobile Push Notifications: Notifications delivered through the native push notification system of your mobile operating system (iOS APNs, Android FCM) via our mobile application, when available.
- SMS/Text Messages: In future implementations, we may offer price alert notifications via Short Message Service (SMS) or Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS). Prior to sending any such communications, we will obtain your express written consent and collect your mobile telephone number. Message frequency will vary based on your tracking activity. Standard message and data rates imposed by your wireless carrier may apply. You may opt out of SMS notifications at any time by replying STOP to any message or adjusting your account settings.
5.2. You may modify your notification preferences at any time through your account settings. You may also unsubscribe from promotional email communications by clicking the "unsubscribe" link provided in each such communication. Please note that even if you opt out of promotional communications, we may continue to send you transactional or service-related messages (e.g., account verification, security alerts, changes to terms or policies).
6. Affiliate Disclosure
6.1. DealUpdates is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for website operators to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com and affiliated properties. Additionally, we may participate in other affiliate or referral programs with various e-commerce retailers.
6.2. Product links displayed within the Services, including but not limited to links within deal listings, price alert notifications, email communications, and push notifications, may contain affiliate tracking parameters. When you click on such a link and subsequently complete a qualifying purchase, we may receive a referral commission from the retailer at no additional cost to you.
6.3. Affiliate relationships do not influence our editorial decisions regarding which deals are featured, the order in which they are displayed, or the accuracy of pricing information presented within the Services. We endeavor to present accurate and current pricing information; however, prices are subject to change by the retailer at any time without notice to us.
6.4. In accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising (16 CFR Part 255), we disclose that we may earn commission from qualifying purchases made through affiliate links on the Services.
7. Data Retention
7.1. We retain your personal information for as long as your account remains active or as reasonably necessary to provide you with the Services, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, and fulfill the purposes described in this Policy.
7.2. Upon deletion of your account, whether initiated by you or by us pursuant to our Terms of Service, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within thirty (30) calendar days, except to the extent that retention of certain information is required or permitted by applicable law for legitimate purposes including, without limitation, compliance with legal obligations, fraud prevention, enforcement of our Terms of Service, and resolution of pending disputes.
7.3. Aggregated, anonymized, or de-identified data that can no longer reasonably be used to identify you may be retained indefinitely for analytical, statistical, and service improvement purposes.

13.1. The Services are operated from the United States. If you access the Services from outside the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States or other jurisdictions where our service providers maintain facilities.
